What Inspired Me to Paint the British Overseas Territory

You can find Gibraltar in the Iberian peninsula, it sits on the Mediterranean Sea, between the Costa del Sol and North Africa (Morocco), filled with people from every walk of life, from expat British citizens to Gibraltar residents.

You may ask, what is so special about the Gibraltar? Well.. in my experience, Gibraltar is a truly unique place to be an artist, there is very easy access to nature to take advantage of..

The apes den, a natural grotto, the Mediterranean sea (and the the Atlantic!), Gibraltar rock, the very tip of Europe, the land of North Africa/Morocco just a few miles away and the beautiful Costa del Sol and Spanish coastlines (we are right on a fantastic migratory path for many, beautiful birds).

There is culture... British culture, Spanish culture, Gibraltar has it's own currency, Gibraltar restaurants have their own version of British cuisine and Spanish cuisine, World War II history, visitors and Gibraltar's residents from all over the world and of course a family friendly atmosphere.

Their local businesses, shops, tourism and sunshine fill the winding streets from Gibraltar airport to the upper rock nature reserve to the South District.

All distinguishing features of the British overseas territory that make it worth a visit (or a move!) but they haven't quite made it into my work... yet!
